Chad Owens shares Aloha Stadium Memories, BYU Win and Hawaii football comeback

Chad Owens shares Aloha Stadium Memories, BYU Win and Hawaii football comeback Chad Owens reflects on Aloha Stadium memories, the BYU win, Circle of Honor induction and giving back through UH football broadcasts.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - Kainoa Carlson and Chad Owens share bittersweet memories of the Aloha Stadium as portions of the historic facility come down section by section.

Chad Owens says driving by hurts every time because each missing section holds a memory, from his first walk out of the tunnel to the roar of the fans on game day.

His favorite memory is one fans still talk about today, the thrilling win over BYU. Owens calls it the most impactful game of his college career, with a packed stadium, an electric atmosphere and a victory that truly felt special.

That moment helped launch an incredible journey from Roosevelt High School walk-on and Rough Rider to University of Hawaii standout, with professional stints in Canada and the National Football League, and induction into the Sports Circle of Honor in 2025.

Today, Owens is giving back in a new way as part of the broadcast team for pregame, halftime and postgame shows. He says sharing what he has learned and lived is his way to support the next generation and stay connected to campus and the fans.

Owens will be back this Friday to watch the next Circle of Honor group, including Coach Mariano, get inducted.

Fans can continue to support Hawaii’s team and plan ahead for another home game coming up in a couple of weeks.
