HONOLULU (HI Now) - Hula O Nā Keiki gives young dancers a chance to connect with their kupuna and share the songs of Maui.

The 34th annual competition brings children ages 6 to 17 to the stage for a celebration of hula, oli, mele and the Hawaiian language, while encouraging the creation of new mele.

The two-day event takes place Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, at Keōpūolani Hale at Kamehameha Schools Maui in Makawao. This year’s auditorium setting offers an up-close view of Maui’s only solo keiki hula competition. Complimentary parking is available, and check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. each day.

Tickets are available online, with general seating and limited VIP tickets that include preferred seating and a keepsake. Same-day tickets may be available for $35 per person per night.
