HONOLULU (HI Now) - Supporting student-athletes both on and off the court shapes their future success, and the local community has a unique opportunity to directly fuel these achievements.
ʻAhahui Koa Ānuenue, a dedicated nonprofit raising funds for athletic programs since 1967, is preparing for its premier event of the year to bring people together for this vital mission. Annual contributions from supporters exceed four million dollars, which directly funds development and resources for local sports programs.
The seventh annual Green and White Celebration is scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Bankoh Arena Center. This special evening recognizes five legendary inductees into the Sports Circle of Honor.
This year’s outstanding class includes:
- Rich Miano (Football): All-American defensive back, 11-year NFL veteran, former UH assistant coach, and long-time sports analyst.
- Monika Eggens (Water Polo): Three-time ACWPC All-American, Big West Player of the Year, Olympian, and UH’s all-time leading goal scorer.
- Barbara (Mitchell) Anderson (Swimming - Legend Category): UH’s first swimming national champion (1975 AIAW 200 IM) and 1972 U.S. Olympian.
- Costas Theocharidis (Men’s Volleyball): Two-time AVCA National Player of the Year and four-time First Team All-American.
- Ben Yee (Contributor Category): Co-founder of the Nā Koa football booster club who dedicated over four decades of service to UH football.
Guests will enjoy a fantastic dinner program where they can sit alongside current student-athletes or coaches. Valet parking and drinks are included with each table of eight.

The celebration continues the following day with homecoming festivities, offering another wonderful opportunity to honor these local sports legends. Table registrations and individual tickets are available now, and the deadline to secure a spot is September 15. All proceeds from the evening directly benefit the UH Athletics Department to support student-athlete academic and athletic success.
