Local food enthusiasts can experience this cultural mix at the upcoming Hale Aina Gala on Saturday, September 5, at the Kahala Hotel. Hosted by Honolulu Magazine, this event celebrates the talent of Hawaii’s local chefs and provides an immersive community experience themed around Fantasy Island.
Guests can look forward to ono culinary creations, and the first 400 attendees will receive a complimentary lei.
Among the featured culinary stars is Chef Keaka Lee of Kapa Hale, who builds seasonal menus around strong relationships with local farmers and purveyors. Chef Lee brings a wealth of experience to the table, having trained at world-renowned restaurants in New York City and San Francisco before returning home.
For this celebration, he is showcasing a mouthwatering tamarind and coconut pork belly dish served with basil and pickled mustard, highlighting the fresh ingredients and passion that define his rustic cooking style.
