Hawaii kicked off the Rainbow Wahine soccer season by hosting national powerhouse Texas Tech, ranked 23rd in the country, marking the first time in seven years that a nationally ranked team has played on local turf.
Although Hawaii lost the hard-fought season opener in a close one to nothing match, the team proved they can compete with the best in the nation. With 11 fresh faces on the roster this year, the young squad showed incredible promise and grit under the lights, setting the stage for a thrilling year of soccer.
