HONOLULU (HI Now) - Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and having passionate leaders in the classroom is where that transformation begins. As part of Teach For America Hawaiʻi’s 20 Stories for 20 Years campaign, HI Now Daily sits down with Justin Brown.
Although teaching was not his initial career choice, Brown found his calling through Teach For America Hawaiʻi. Today, he channels that passion into Kealakehe High School, where he works to shape the next generation of local leaders and expand educational opportunities for youth in the community.
As the Career and Technical Education director, Brown connects classroom learning to real-world experiences, creating an engaging environment for his students. His deep dedication to public education recently earned him the prestigious Christine Bean Excellence in Education Award, which honors local educators who embody kuleana, ʻohana, and aloha. Students describe him as a hardworking and wise role model who continuously inspires them to succeed.
