The Annual Queen Liliʻuokalani Keiki Hula Competition celebrates keiki ages 6 to 12 as they share the stories, discipline, and pride that live inside every chant, step, and expression. Born from the cultural reawakening of the 1970s, this gathering keeps that momentum alive by putting young dancers and their kumu at the heart of a world class showcase.
What makes this competition special is how much it honors the full picture of hula. Hālau from across the Hawaiian Islands and Japan bring their very best, from kahiko to ʻauana, with fashion and artistry that reflect deep preparation and intention. The coveted Miss and Master Keiki Hula Awards highlight standout performers, while recognition also goes to top keikikāne and kaimakahine in the top five placements, plus ʻŌlelo Awards that celebrate Hawaiian language excellence alongside overall hālau achievement.
Day 1 sets the tone with the Miss Keiki Hula Competition, Master Keiki Hula Competition, and a Soloist Awards Ceremony. Between performances, attendees can also shop the Keiki Hula Market featuring 50 plus vendors curated by Nā Mea Hawaiʻi, adding a local, visual, and community focused layer to the day.
