HONOLULU (HI Now) - A hometown staple can still find a fresh way to surprise the people who’ve loved it for decades. Lion Coffee has been roasting in Honolulu since 1979, and this week the brand is turning its spotlight outward. Lion Coffee is celebrating the creative community that makes Hawaiʻi feel like home, one mural, one neighborhood, one story at a time.
The new limited edition Artist Series kicks off with local artist Kamea Hadar, known for large scale murals and a signature style that instantly reads as Hawaiʻi. His custom design appears on a 10oz Vanilla Macadamia coffee bag, and the art is meant to be seen up close, from the flora details to the bold Lion head rendition that turns everyday coffee into something you want to keep on the counter.
The launch celebration is designed to be experienced in person. Lion Coffee and Kamea invite the community to a pop up style event on Thursday, July 16 at 4 p.m. at Kings and Queens in Waikiki. This event invites fans to check out the new packaging and grab limited edition merch including Van Mac Coffee, t-shirts, a mug, and stickers. It is a plan ahead kind of stop that mixes local art culture with a simple ritual many of us already share, brewing coffee at home.
