HONOLULU (HI Now) - Hawaiʻi stories are at their best when they connect past and present, and a Maui-based local filmmaker brought that to life. Filipino-American attorney Lance D. Collins created the film, “All The Things I Leave You (Patawid).” This Ilokano language feature explores transnational migration, cultural identity, and Maui sugar plantation era history, shining a spotlight on the emotional ripples that travel across oceans and generations.
Created by Maui based Filipino American attorney and writer Lance D. Collins, the film is the closing feature of the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival on July 12 at Hawaiʻi Theatre on Oʻahu. It is also a rare cultural milestone, this is the first Ilokano language feature film to screen in Hawaiʻi since 1940, making this screening feel like both a celebration and a homecoming.
The excitement is global, the trailer has already topped 4.5 million views on YouTube, and the film’s early June commercial run in the Philippines was overwhelmingly well received. For the Honolulu screening, the experience goes beyond the screen with a special in person appearance by lead actor Benedix Ramos and award winning filmmaker Jade Castro, traveling from the Philippines to join Collins for the closing festivities.
