The Dish Kailua serves up Hawaiian style poke and a summer series of Hawaiian music Kala Kaaihue of The Dish Kailua cooks up Hawaiian style poke and shares plans for an exciting summer series of Hawaiian music on Oahu.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - Kala Kaaihue, owner of The Dish Kailua, joins HI Now to cook up his Hawaiian style poke recipe, made with fresh ahi, Hawaiian salt, limu, sesame oil, chili flakes, chili wata, opae and inamona. Born and raised in Kailua and a retired professional baseball player, Kaaihue opened The Dish in December 2025 as a family-owned restaurant rooted in faith, ohana and aloha, with a love for sports, Hawaiian music and ono grinds.

Located at 426 Uluniu St. in Kailua, The Dish is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant is also partnering with the Henry Kapono Foundation on an upcoming summer series featuring 8 to 12 weeks of Hawaiian music, showcasing both well-known and emerging local artists and entertainers.
