HONOLULU (HI Now) - Muriel Miura was an award-winning home economist and educator for Hawaiʻi’s youth, home cooks, and local chefs like Alan Wong and Sam Choy. Widely recognized as the face of The Gas Company (now known as Hawaii Gas), Muriel gained popularity through classes, demonstrations, conferences, cooking shows, pamphlets, and cookbooks.

Muriel’s Mainichi Cooking presented by Hawaiʻi Gas is a new Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi (JCCH) video series inspired by Muriel’s mainichi まいにち (everyday) recipes from the JCCH archives that were generously provided by her daughter, Shari Ling.
