HONOLULU (HI Now) - On this special episode of Spotlight Now, students from Kamehameha Schools Kapālama explore the topics of iwi kūpuna and mea kapu as well as regenerative tourism.
During the first half of the show, Dr. Kēhaunani Abad, vice president of Uluhiwa at Kamehameha Schools, and Paula Akana, president and CEO of The Friends of ʻIolani Palace, share their insights on repatriation efforts and the kuleana surrounding sacred items.
The KS Kapālama haumāna also discuss Hawaiʻi’s visitor industry and destination stewardship management in a conversation with Mahina Paishon, vice chair of the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority’s board of directors, and Aaron Salā, president and CEO of the Hawaiʻi Visitors and Convention Bureau.
