HONOLULU (HI Now) - With twelve decades of history, Hawaiʻi Gas is one of the oldest companies operating in the Aloha State today. Established in 1904 as the Honolulu Gas Company, Ltd., the company began fueling homes and businesses on Oʻahu with gas from its original plant in Iwilei, eventually growing into an essential energy provider serving diverse communities across the state. As the company grew, so did the number of people who shaped the course of its history, including many over the decades who held cooking demonstrations, classes, and hosted cooking shows, including local culinary icon Muriel Miura.

HI Now host Rachel Pacarro is in the Good Energy Kitchen with Kevin Nishimura and Rachel Kaya from Hawaii Gas as they cook a few recipes from a 1986 Hawaii Gas employee cookbook and talk about the company’s history! Below is the recipes of the Kim Chee Pork and Pocket Malasadas.
