HONOLULU (HI Now) - First established in Waipahu on Farrington Highway, where the business takes its name, our original location has been through various expansions and is now helmed by the third generation of Toguchis. In 2017, Highway Inn joined the brand new SALT at Our Kaka’ako center as one of its original tenants. They are proud to carry on their grandparents’ tradition of serving “A Taste of Old Hawai’i” to everyone who visits us for a meal here at SALT.
At Highway Inn, they love to cook with gas and these are some of the benefits:
- “It ain’t the same without the flame.”
- Natural gas is generally less expensive than electricity, and more cost-effective and economical.
- Better heating control (you can turn up the heat instantly, and make quick adjustments for better cooking results – especially if you’re preparing a dish that requires precise heating temperatures).
- Gas stoves are usually less expensive than electric stoves and cheaper to maintain because they have fewer electrical components.
- You can still cook if there’s a power outage.
Highway Inn enjoys being a part of the thriving Our Kakaʻako community with the other tenant ʻohana at SALT. They’re fortunate to not only serve the community from this prime location, but they also have opportunities to participate in various other activities, such as the Kamehameha Schools 6th-grade Huakaʻi tour at SALT, where they are able to share ʻike about owning a business in Hawaiʻi.
Highway Inn is located on the front side of SALT at Our Kakaʻako, directly facing Ala Moana Boulevard. For more information, visit www.myhighwayinn.com and @myhighwayinn on Instagram.
