HONOLULU (HI Now) - HI Now hosts Rachel Pacarro and McKenna Maduli are joined by Andrew Chun-Hori of the Hawaiian Pie Company in HI Now Daily’s Good Energy Kitchen sponsored by Hawaii Gas.
The Hawaiian Pie Company is a Hawaii family’s dream that became a reality in 2014. The family-owned bakery has a history that spans four generations of bakers each committed to the tradition of pie making and sharing aloha one pie slice at a time. Their specialties include melt-in-your-mouth butter fruit pies, cookies and assorted daily bake good specials.
The Hawaiian Pie Company is baking up a variety of flavors this fall. Their current flavor for September is Berry-Biscus consist of a combination of blueberries and strawberries with the tartness of hibiscus tea for the filling which is topped off with a hibiscus crumble. Other pies soon to be released are there fan favorite Pumpkin Custard pie and a ʻCoffee Candyʻ pie which was inspired by the familyʻs love for coffee and their Grandmaʻs favorite candy.
For those unable to make it to their storefront, the Hawaiian Pie Company have frozen, ready-to-bake pies available in the freezer section of Foodland, Chefzone and Safeway locations across the state. The ready-to-bake frozen pies come in a variety of flavors and takes about an hour to bake. In addition to pies, in-store items also include a variety of other baked goods including cookies, chex mix and daily specials which are inspired by their late Grandfather.
The Hawaiian Pie Company is located at 508 Waiakamilo Road in Kalihi, Oahu. The store hours are Wednesday - Friday 9am - 4pm and Saturdays 10am - 4pm. They are closed Sunday through Tuesday.
