Calling all brunch fans! Egghead Cafe has become one of the top picks on Oahu with its modern vibe and Instagram-worthy food! HI Now host Kanoe Gibson went to check out its newest Honolulu location to get a taste of what’s on the menu.
Egghead Cafe opened in 2015 at its original location on Queen Street in Kakaako. In January 2020, the restaurant was excited to reopen its doors at a larger, more modern space in Kalihi at Kapalama Shopping Center. The restaurant is split into two sides: One for those looking to dine-in, and another more casual side for those picking up take out orders or people craving a cup of coffee.
“We have a lot of loyal customers. Once they knew we reopened back at this location, everyone started coming back,” says co-owner Kevin Young.
Some of the cafe’s specialties? Eggs, of course! While Eggs Benedicts and omelettes are some of its most popular items, don’t sleep on the different flavored pancakes! From strawberry to macadamia nut, and even ube and tiramisu, there are a number to try that will leave you wanting more.
For all those coffee lovers, you know brunch isn’t complete without a morning cup! You’ll be happy to hear that Egghead offers fresh, locally roasted coffee. If you’re looking to pair that coffee with something, look no further than the freshly baked pastries on the take out side.
“We want to emphasize the aloha spirit, to treat others well, and always just be friendly to our customers,” Young says. “We always use this slogan, “Let’s Aloha,” meaning we want people to just feel comfortable dining in.”
