Hawaiʻi School for Girls at La Pietra

About Hawaiʻi School for Girls at La Pietra
Hawai’i School for Girls at La Pietra is an independent school for girls in grades 6–12, nestled on the historic Tuscan-villa-inspired estate of Walter Dillingham in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Founded in 1964 by a group of forward-thinking women, it remains the island’s only secular independent girls’ school. The name “La Pietra” means the stone in Italian, representing the foundation the school strives to build beneath every student’s journey.
Over 60 years later, La Pietra continues to be a place where young women flourish, guided by a mission to cultivate purpose, passion, and confidence. With a 7:1 student-teacher ratio, every girl receives individualized attention in a supportive, close-knit community. The campus has grown over the decades, featuring modern 21st-century learning spaces, a science center, and an athletic complex. Fully accredited by WASC and a proud member of NAIS and HAIS, La Pietra is dedicated to raising women of purpose, on purpose.
