HONOLULU (HI Now) - Classic Waves Boutique in Kailua is putting its own team in the spotlight to show how local retail can build community from within.
Owner Lori Goodgame created space inside the mermaid-inspired boutique for employees to test the market with their handmade work, refine their branding, and share their stories alongside more than 60 makers from across Hawaii.
The approach keeps the focus on storytelling, eco-friendly brands that give back, and one of a kind pieces found in Kailua and Chinatown.
The segment features three employee artists whose work reflects Hawaii life and creativity.
Shelley Yuen crafts beach glass keychains and mobiles, Noelani Glorioso paints original acrylic pieces, and Isabel Reed of Bel and The Moon designs handmade jewelry. Their collections sit among displays from dozens of local makers, with Shop Small Hawaii honors and other community awards placed throughout the shop.
