Starting as early as kindergarten, parents build the foundation for positive attendance habits by embedding them in the family’s daily routine. With the partnership of families, the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education aims to achieve a 90% attendance rate or higher.
Being absent just two days a month adds up to missing 10% of the school year, which can significantly impact a student’s ability to read at grade level, stay connected with friends and graduate on time.
