HONOLULU (HI Now) - Every time someone steps up to learn CPR, AED use, or lifesaving first aid, they are not just gaining a skill, they are joining a chain of community care that can change an outcome in seconds. That is the heartbeat behind the work of Jeanne Clisham, Manager of Education and Training, Medical at AMR Hawaiʻi, where training is treated as a statewide mission.
Clisham manages the day to day operations of AMR Hawaiʻi’s education and training efforts, delivering medical and community training to employees and the public across the islands. With more than 28 years at the firm, she has built a career on staying ahead of the most current research and standards, while expanding continued medical education disciplines that keep teams prepared for the moments that matter most.
Her impact reaches beyond Hawaiʻi. In her secondary role supporting an American Heart Association Training Center, Clisham oversees 54 training sites, 39 across Hawaiʻi and the U.S., plus 15 in Japan, and has helped train more than 900 AHA instructors across multiple disciplines. Through her leadership and AHA involvement, she helped bring AEDs to Hawaiʻi and coordinated training for over 30,000 kids through Department of Education physical fitness days.
Clisham’s legacy also includes introducing AHA Emergency Cardiovascular Care programs to Japan in 2002, helping shape one of the first Multinational Training Centers when AHA became international. Her global partnerships helped bring NAEMT programs like PHTLS and AMLS to Japan, and her service includes years on the American Heart Association board and current work with the American Diabetes Association board.
