Aloha to LEED Gold, Turtle Bay’s sustainable resort milestone Turtle Bay celebrates LEED Gold with a plaque ceremony, spotlighting solar power, water savings, waste reduction, and greener North Shore stays.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - The Ritz-Carlton O’ahu, Turtle Bay recently marked its LEED Gold certification with a plaque ceremony recognizing years of sustainability work at the North Shore resort. The U.S. Green Building Council awarded the certification through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. It credits the resort’s efforts on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, indoor air quality and day-to-day operations.

Host Hotels & Resorts, which owns the property, worked with resort leadership and staff over several years to build sustainability into daily operations. The resort runs on a nearly 700-kilowatt rooftop solar system and uses water-saving technology, as well as waste-diversion and resource-conservation programs.

The certification makes Turtle Bay one of 27 LEED-certified properties in Host Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio. All five of the company’s Hawai’i properties are now LEED certified.
