HONOLULU (HI Now) - Dinner should feel exciting, not stressful. That is the big idea behind Foodland Five, a weekly recipe series made for busy families who want fresh, flavorful meals without overthinking the grocery list or overspending.
Each Foodland Five recipe uses only five ingredients, and every ingredient is featured on sale during the week the recipe drops. From Beef Bulgogi Tacos and Coconut Shrimp to Instant Pot Kalua Pig and Cabbage, Foodland chefs and friends keep the ideas coming with local favorites, easy weeknight wins, and fun twists that help answer the classic question, “What’s for dinner?”
This week, Chef Keoni Chang is serving up Warm Fried Pipikaula Poke and Watercress Salad, a simple dish with big local flavor. Warm pipikaula and ponzu create a light dressing that gently wilts the watercress, giving the dish a fresh, cozy vibe that can be customized with tofu, furikake, fried garlic, and more.
Foodland is also spotlighting MA’O Organic Farms, one of Hawaii’s largest certified organic farms, located in Lualualei Valley. MA’O grows more than 40 varieties of fruits and vegetables while helping grow future leaders through aloha ʻāina, college support, and career pathways for local youth. Foodland has supported local farmers since 1948, and its partnership with MA’O brings fresh organic produce to shoppers while strengthening Hawaii’s food future.
