HONOLULU (HI Now) - Teach For America Hawaiʻi is celebrating its 20-year milestone by sharing “bright spots” in public education, and Isaiah Pule’s story is one that sticks with you. A TFA Hawaiʻi 2018 corps member, Isaiah began his education career teaching at Kamaile Academy, his alma mater. Today, he’s back on campus as an Instructional Coach.
In the classroom, he works alongside teachers to dig into student data and adjust instruction, so every learner gets what they need. His experience spans multiple grade levels and subjects, from teaching 4th grade to leading STEAM ocean instruction, Hawaiian language, and middle school math, giving him a broad view of what students need to thrive.
He also brings his leadership beyond campus as Executive Director of E Ala Voyaging Academy, where his work centers community connection and holistic well-being. Across every role, the through-line is clear. always lead with kuleana, ʻohana, and aloha. Those values earned him recognition in 2025 at the Christine Bean Excellence in Education Awards for exemplifying the heart of TFA Hawaiʻi’s mission. Isaiah also speaks openly about the challenges he faced as a student, including unstable housing and feeling unseen. He expresses how that perspective fuels what he hopes to build now, a stronger support system, deeper engagement, and a healthier “village” to raise healthy children.
