EWA BEACH (HI Now) - With the ocean breeze at their backs and pull-up bars in full view, the Hawaii Now Daily team hit the Wai Kai waterfront to spotlight one of Oahu’s most unique fitness concepts: the Key Fitness Hawaii FitTruk. Described as Oahu’s portable fitness gym, the mobile unit was driven up just 30 minutes before the segment began and once its sides folded out, a full array of workout equipment was revealed, including a rowing machine, resistance-torque training tools, and everything needed to run a complete class right on the spot. Trainer Ky Vuong, the man who brought the concept to the island, explained that the truck is designed to keep participants guessing, with a mixed-and-matched setup that ensures no two sessions feel the same.
The Key Fitness Hawaii FitTruk isn’t just for solo workouts or group classes, it’s a fully mobile experience that can be booked for birthday parties, community events, and special pop-ups anywhere on the island. Vuong, who shed 50 pounds on his own fitness journey and will turn 55 this October, specializes in what he calls “screw finish” fitness, a functional approach that includes senior fitness, women-only classes, men’s classes, and adaptive training. He is also collaborating with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Hawaii as a mentor and volunteer, and will be teaching senior fitness and women’s-only classes for the YWCA in Kaneohe. For those looking to connect, Vuong can be found on Instagram at @fit4u3000 and online at keyfitnesshi.com.
Adam Muller, Director of Guest Experience at Wai Kai also join HI Now Daily and announced that Wai Kai is expanding its summer schedule to seven days a week starting this Friday, May 29th, offering everything from surfing and paddling to dining, shopping, and the popular AquaVenture, a water obstacle course that Muller described as Hawaii’s version of Wipeout. New additions include electric boats on Wai Kai’s 52-acre enclosed lagoon, updated AquaVenture features, and a full lineup of keiki programs. The signature Nā ʻOlio Kai program serves children ages 7–13, while new offerings Keiki ʻAina (ages 4–6) and Keiki Splash (ages 0–3), are being introduced this summer to ensure every member of the ohana has something to enjoy. A flash sale offering three days of fun for the price of one is also set to launch at the beginning of June. For schedules, summer passes, and updates, visit www.waikai.com.
Football legend and Polynesian Hall of Fame inductee Chad Owens made a special appearance alongside the FitTruk, teasing his role as official co-host of the upcoming Hawaii Fit Expo on June 27–28 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Now retired from professional football and pursuing bodybuilding with purpose-driven passion, Owens said fitness has always been a cornerstone of his life, first to be the best football player he could be, and now to build his best physique and inspire others. At the Fit Expo, attendees can expect bodybuilding demonstrations, guest posing, and a special appearance by a teenage bodybuilding phenom who Owens is calling a future “Mr. Olympia.” The Key Fitness Hawaii FitTruk will also be set up inside the Blaisdell, giving expo-goers a chance to get a workout in alongside Owens himself.

The Hawaii Fit Expo on June 27–28 promises keiki challenges, bodybuilding showcases, vendor booths, food, and community fitness all under one roof.
