HONOLULU (HI Now) - Brug Bakery is marking a major milestone with the grand opening of its newest and biggest location in Kapolei, its sixth store in Hawaii. The Japanese-style bakery, originally from Hokkaido, Japan, first brought its unique concept to the Hawaii community when it opened its very first store on July 3, 2013. Since then, co-founders Miho Choi Fernandez and Alberto Fernandez have been on a mission to share authentic Japanese-style baking with the islands, and the Kapolei location represents the next exciting chapter in that journey.
What makes the Kapolei location stand out is that it’s the first Brug Bakery to feature a full drink menu and a dedicated cake program, expanding beyond bread for the very first time. With over 70 types of breads and pastries made fresh from scratch every day, the bakery is going all out for the season with special May and June offerings. Highlights include a Mother’s Day-inspired bow tie bread filled with strawberry jam, a comforting banana bread, a savory sukiyaki beef pastry with a whole boiled egg in the center, and the fan-favorite Kuma Choco, now dressed up with a graduation hat for the season. The bakery also offers options for vegan and vegetarian customers, as well as local favorites like mochi donuts.

To celebrate the opening, Brug Bakery is running a special giveaway throughout the month of May at select locations, giving away a $100 gift card every week. Customers can enter each time they visit the store by filling out a paper entry with their name and contact information, with multiple entries allowed.
