HONOLULU (HI Now) - Senator Donovan M. Dela Cruz is spotlighting the Department of Education’s AINA — Advancing Innovation in Nutrition for All — Kitchen Network, aimed at modernizing school meal preparation, incorporating more locally sourced ingredients, and boosting efficiency across public school cafeterias.

To promote the AINA Kitchen Network, Mililani High School is partnering with the McKinley Community School for Adults to enhance their agricultural programs. At the center of the partnership is Career Foundations, developed by McKinley Community School for Adults, which provides accessible training in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, professional development, and agriculture.

The First AINA Kitchen Network facility broke ground in January. This Central Oahu facility is expected to begin serving meals to students in the Leilehua-Mililani-Waialua Complex Area in fall 2027. Future plans call for two regional kitchens on Oahu, two on Hawaii Island and one each on Kauai, Maui and Molokai.
