Tibetan meditation teacher Lama Wangchuk brings weekly free classes to Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin Join Lama Wangchuk for free Tibetan meditation classes every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin on Pali Highway in Honolulu.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - A free Tibetan meditation and book study class is now open to the community every Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin, the Hawaii headquarters temple of Jodo Shin Buddhism located on Pali Highway. The class is taught by Lama Wangchuk, a Tibet-born, India-trained Buddhist monk who was assigned to bring Tibetan meditation teachings to Hawaii, where he also practices as a licensed medical massage therapist. The class draws on guided Tibetan Lojong meditation and the study of “Training the Mind and Cultivating Loving-Kindness” by Chogyam Trungpa, focusing on the Seven Points of Meditation Postures to Purify the Five Mental Poisons. The program was made possible under the leadership of Chief Minister Yuika Hasebe, who opened Hawaii Betsuin’s doors to Lama Wangchuk’s teachings. The next class is Thursday, April 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the Annex Temple. Hawaii Betsuin also hosts a Sunday service on April 26 at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.
