HONOLULU (HI Now) - Hawaii has some of the highest electricity rates in the country, but local businesses do not have to absorb those costs alone. Hawaiʻi Energy offers practical solutions to help small businesses, restaurants and nonprofits reduce energy expenses in three key areas: lighting, air conditioning and equipment upgrades.

Through Hawaiʻi Energy’s Energy Advantage program, eligible businesses can switch to LED lighting at little to no cost, making it one of the most accessible ways to start saving right away. For businesses looking to tackle larger projects, the EmPOWER grant program funds a variety of energy-efficient upgrades, including air conditioning improvements. Businesses with unique energy-saving opportunities may qualify for up to $15,000 through the program’s “Let’s Talk” tier.
