HONOLULU (HI Now) - As the Merrie Monarch Festival marks 50 years of kāne hula, Hawaiian Airlines is honored to continue its long-standing support of the festival, the hula community and the rich traditions that sustain it. From across the islands, Hawaiian Airlines employees help hālau, attendees, vendors and cargo make their way to Hilo for the festivities. On the ground, volunteers from the company join the Royal Parade each year and help attendees get around Hilo for key events including a complimentary shuttle on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from the Hilo Airport to the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, Civic Center, Big Island Candies, and Prince Kūhiō Mall.
