HONOLULU (HI Now) - Hālana is a Hilo-based band rooted in faith, whose name carries the Hawaiian meaning “to overflow.” The duo is made up of vocalist and ukulele player Pililani Pua-Kaipo and vocalist and guitarist Jacob Bernabe, whose shared mission is to use music as a God-given gift to pour into others the peace, joy and connection that only music can bring.
Rooted in faith, Hālana uses their sound to uplift listeners and create moments of genuine connection within their community. The group’s debut single, Nā Mele no Iesū, is available tonight at 6 p.m. on all major streaming platforms, marking a milestone moment for the emerging Hilo act.
The band’s set also features the Hawaiian songs ʻO ʻoe ʻIo and Kanaka Waiwai, selections that reflect the group’s deep cultural and spiritual roots. With their debut now underway, Hālana has set their sights on future goals that continue to center faith, community and the power of music.
