HONOLULU (HI Now) - Bishop Museum has opened its newest exhibition, Aloha Bricks ʻ26: Stories of Hawaiʻi, a family-friendly display that brings Hawaii’s culture, history, and environment to life through LEGO-inspired creations. The exhibition was created in partnership with the Hawaii LEGO Users Group (HILUG) and middle school students across the state. A Middle School Mosaic Gallery features contributions from 50 schools, where students built their school mascots using nearly half a million bricks. Visitors can also see brick models of iconic Hawaii landmarks including ʻIolani Palace, Hawaii Theatre, the Arizona Memorial, and Hōkūleʻa, as well as large-scale sculptures of native species such as the humuhumunukunukuapuaʻa, kalo, and the Kamehameha butterfly. Alexis Goodson, Bishop Museum’s People Operations Manager, appeared on HI Now Daily to discuss the exhibition and share her experience as a parent who play-tested the exhibit with her keiki.
