HONOLULU (HI Now) - Team Hawaii Ice and Snow Team finished fourth at the World Ice and Snow Carving competition at the Sapporo Snow Festival, according to team captain Dale Radomski. The team also took home a gold medal during the competition.
Radomski said Team Hawaii was one of 10 teams selected to compete in the world event. The fourth-place finish came against the 12-time defending champions.
The team was visited by attendees from Hawaiʻi and other locations during the competition. George Glass, the U.S. Ambassador from Washington, D.C., also visited the team at the event.
Team Hawaii has been invited to return to the competition next year. The team is seeking community support for the trip through a GoFundMe campaign.
