Central Pacific Bank launches “Business Exceptional” campaign to support local small businesses Central Pacific Bank's Business Exceptional campaign offers local businesses up to $1,200 cash and a checking account built to reduce everyday costs.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - Central Pacific Bank (CPB) is doubling down on its commitment to Hawaii’s entrepreneurial community with the launch of its new Business Exceptional campaign. The initiative, which runs from March 2 through April 30, 2026, introduces a special cash-incentive program designed to provide immediate capital to local companies.

In a recent interview, Susan Utsugi, Group SVP and Division Manager of Business Banking at CPB, highlighted the bank’s unique position in the local market. The campaign offers two cash bonus tiers for those who open or upgrade to a Business Exceptional Checking account: a $1,200 bonus with a $75,000 deposit of new money, or a $400 bonus with a $25,000 deposit.

“We are the only local bank to offer a cash bonus to small businesses,” said Utsugi. “We understand the effort it takes to run a business and we believe our cash bonus is a great way to reward that commitment.”

To qualify for the bonus, business owners must maintain the required minimum balance for three months and keep the account active for at least six months.

While the cash incentive is a big draw, the Business Exceptional Checking account is structured to reduce the costs that often burden small operations. Key features of the account include:

  • 325 free deposited items or checks paid per period, far exceeding the typical 100 offered by most banks
  • Free ACH electronic payments
  • ATM Surcharge Rebates when you use any non-CPB ATM
  • No Incoming Wire Transfer fees
  • Foreign Currency Fee is waived
  • $50 off one check order every year

Utsugi noted that the account is designed to scale with a company, whether they are just launching or are already well-established. By maintaining a $10,000 balance, businesses can also avoid the standard $20 monthly service charge.

Simplifying the Transition

Recognizing switching banks can often be a pain for businesses, CPB has streamlined its onboarding process. The bank maintains that the little bit of effort now, can save a lot over the life of the business.

“We believe once people open their CPB account, they will see just how much they love it and it will be the beginning of a long-term partnership focused on supporting your growth and investing in your success,” said Utsugi.
