HONOLULU (HI Now) - A statewide survey of more than 700 Hawai‘i residents conducted by Ward Research shows strong public support for the Kauhale Initiative. Most respondents view it as a meaningful solution to Hawai‘i’s housing and homelessness crisis and support expanding it for people experiencing homelessness and the working poor.

To date, HomeAid Hawai‘i, in partnership with the State of Hawai‘i, has developed six kauhale villages and delivered homes or communal facilities for two more. Through our non-profit development model, we reduce construction costs by partnering with the building industry, the private sector, nonprofit organizations, and the broader community. These collective efforts allow us to stretch every dollar further and deliver deeply affordable housing to those who need it most.
