HONOLULU (HI Now) - Kaula Lūʻau makes its debut this Friday at Ocean’s Edge at Ko Olina, marking a landmark moment for Native Hawaiian-led cultural entertainment in West Oʻahu. Produced by the Hawaiian Council in partnership with Ko Olina, the immersive evening production weaves hula, chant, live music, and contemporary staging into a single cohesive narrative rooted in genealogy and identity — setting it apart from a traditional lūʻau experience.

Extending the cultural experience beyond the stage, the Hawaiian Council has integrated Nā Mea Hawaiʻi — a beloved local brand recently acquired by the Council — into the Kaula Lūʻau as an on-site mākeke (marketplace). Max Mukai, Director of Business Development, joined HI Now to showcase the curated retail experience featuring locally made products from Hawaiian artisans, lei makers, food producers, and designers from across the islands. The marketplace gives both kama’āina and visitors a meaningful way to directly support local entrepreneurs while attending the lūʻau.

Together, Kaula Lūʻau and Nā Mea Hawaiʻi reflect the Hawaiian Council’s commitment to cultural perpetuation, economic self-sufficiency, and community empowerment — all rooted in Native Hawaiian leadership. Visit luaukaula.com and @kaulaluau @nameahawaii on social media.
