Rainbow Safe Spaces: How Kaimukī businesses are welcoming everyone through their doors Kaimukī businesses are joining the Rainbow Safe Spaces campaign to ensure every customer feels welcomed, celebrated, and safe in their community.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - In the heart of one of Honolulu’s most beloved neighborhoods, a powerful partnership is taking shape. The Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation and Keep it Kaimukī have joined forces for the Rainbow Safe Spaces campaign — a grassroots effort to ensure that every person who walks into a local business feels seen, safe, and celebrated. Participating businesses display a Rainbow Safe Spaces sticker at their entrance, signaling a commitment to diversity, authenticity, and inclusion. For Kaimukī — a vibrant community known for its unique, locally-owned character — the campaign is a natural fit, reflecting the same spirit of individuality that makes the neighborhood so special. With several queer-owned businesses calling Kaimukī home, the initiative also sends a clear message: you belong here. Now expanding beyond Kaimukī, the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation is inviting businesses across the community to participate.
