HONOLULU (HI Now) - AARP Hawaiʻi is raising awareness about the growing threat of AI-driven scams and cryptocurrency kiosk fraud targeting kupuna across the islands. Fraud expert Doug Shadel will be in Hawaiʻi February 23–26 to host free breakfast and lunch seminars in Honolulu, Paia (Maui), and Hilo. With decades of experience as a fraud investigator and leader within the AARP Fraud Watch Network, Shadel will explain how artificial intelligence and crypto kiosk scams work, why even smart people fall victim, and how to recognize red flags before money is lost.
Workshops will be held February 23 in Honolulu, February 24 in Paia, and Feb. 25–26 in Hilo. To register, visit aarp.org/events/find (enter your zip code), go to aarp.org/hi, call 877-926-8300, or find event details on Facebook at @aarphawaii.
