HONOLULU (HI Now) - The 2025 Honolulu Marathon delivered a powerful boost to Hawaiʻi’s economy, generating more than $532 million in total state and local economic output, according to a new study conducted by Markrich Research LLC. Dr. Jim Barahal, CEO of the Honolulu Marathon, shared that the December event welcomed more than 43,000 participants, including nearly 12,000 runners from Japan and over 13,000 from the continental U.S. Notably, 68% of visiting participants stayed in hotels, underscoring the marathon’s significant impact on tourism. Looking ahead, excitement continues to build for upcoming events including the King’s Runner 10K on March 1 and The Hapalua Half Marathon on April 12, both expected to see record participation.
