HONOLULU (HI Now) - Rachel Pacarro talks to Tim Tetz, Site Manager from The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund about ʻThe Wall That Healsʻ memorial installation that has come to Oʻahu.

The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, will be displayed at the University of Hawaii–West Oahu campus from January 14th to 19th. Open 24 hours a day, the exhibit offers visitors a chance to experience the memorial’s healing impact through a mobile Education Center that explains the Vietnam War, honors the veterans who served, and highlights how their service reshaped the way the nation recognizes military members across all eras.

In addition to the exhibit itself, several special events will take place during the week. These include a motorcycle escort on January 12th, a Welcome Home and Opening Ceremony on January 14th, and a “Light the Night” event on January 17th to honor Vietnam veterans who returned home and later passed away. These events provide meaningful opportunities for remembrance, reflection, and community involvement.

Visitors are welcome to attend at any time during the display and are encouraged to participate in guided tours that explain the 25-year conflict, the creation of the memorial, and its lasting impact on the nation’s understanding of the war. Volunteers are still needed to help with setup, takedown, and visitor support, with nearly 300 volunteers required to ensure the exhibit runs smoothly.
