HONOLULU (HI Now) - Save energy and give back this Holiday season with Hawaii Energy. Hawaii Energy helps residents and businesses make smart energy choices to lower bills and keep our islands clean.

During the holidays, energy use can rise by 30 percent from extra lights, cooking, and gatherings. Use timers or smart plugs for decorations, and add timers to your AC or water heater to save all year.

In the kitchen, use efficient tools like Instant Pots or microwaves to cut energy use and time. If your fridge or freezer is more than 10 years old, replace it with an ENERGY STAR model and get a $250 rebate from Hawai‘i Energy.

Through the Rid-A-Fridge program, recycle your old working fridge or freezer, and receive $75 or donate that amount to a local food bank.
