Waianae Mountains Watershed Partnership unites partners to protect the Waianae Mountains Join Waianae Mountains Watershed Partnership to advance partnerships, wildfire mitigation, and restoration in the Waianae Mountains.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - WMWP’s mission is to cooperatively develop and implement management strategies for the Waianae Mountains, mauka to makai—bringing people together to care for watershed areas, native species and habitats, and the historical, cultural, and socio-economic resources that sustain all Waianae Mountains ahupuaʻa. With wildfire threats on the rise, collaboration is essential. WMWP works closely with the Division of Forestry and Wildlife, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and other partners to plan and deliver landscape-level wildfire mitigation and ecosystem restoration.

Partnerships extend into education: outdoor classrooms, school nurseries, and service-learning trips with Mililani Middle, Mililani High, Nanakuli High, and—coming soon—Waianae High in partnership with Hoomahua Foundation. Community collaborators include Patagonia, Protect and Preserve, Malama Learning Center, and KUPU. WMWP is welcoming more schools and groups to volunteer—help build resilience, restore native habitats, and protect water for future generations.
