Hawai‘i off-grid: Designing a sustainable future, one project at a time Hawai‘i Off-Grid builds net zero and off-grid designs using sustainable materials like Surf Block and Mass Timber—shaping a greener future.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - At Hawai‘i Off-Grid Architecture & Engineering, Principal David Sellers and his team are leading the way in sustainable design. Their mission is to build a better world with thoughtful, innovative solutions that balance comfort, style, and environmental consciousness. Since 2020, every new build is at least Net Zero—often Net Positive or fully Off-Grid—making their projects stand out in the industry. Current initiatives include working with Habitat for Humanity on a Mass Timber bunkhouse for Lahaina volunteers and building Surf Block homes on Maui. By integrating renewable energy, advanced technology, and eco-friendly materials, Hawai‘i Off-Grid is redefining what it means to live sustainably in Hawai‘i.
