HONOLULU (HI Now) - This Saturday, AARP Hawai‘i will host a full lineup of free, in-person workshops at the Generations Magazine Aging in Place Conference in the Hibiscus Ballroom at the Ala Moana Hotel. From expert panels on brain health and transportation to a Social Security and Medicare update with U.S. Rep. Ed Case, the event is designed to help kūpuna and caregivers live their best lives — informed, empowered, and connected.
Attendees can explore over 40 local exhibitor booths offering everything from senior living options to caregiver support and wellness services — all under one roof. Since workshops can fill up quickly, AARP recommends checking out the conference schedule and map in the latest Generations Magazine to plan your visit in advance.
Looking ahead, AARP will host a series of celebratory and informative events in August in honor of Social Security’s 90th anniversary — including free ice cream in Hilo and at UH Maui College. It’s your chance to get the “scoops” — both on Social Security and your favorite frozen treat! Reserve your spot at aarp.org/local before the ice cream melts away.
Additional August events include a candid talk by author Annette Kam on end-of-life planning, a self-defense class on Oʻahu, and a caregiving workshop on Kauaʻi — all free and open to the public.
