HONOLULU (HI Now) - Brandon Finn returns to his island roots in the upcoming Apple TV+ historical drama series Chief of War, premiering globally on Friday, August 1. The nine-episode epic, created by and starring Jason Momoa, explores the unification and colonization of Hawai‘i through an indigenous lens—offering a powerful retelling of the islands’ history from a Native perspective.
In the series, Finn takes on the pivotal role of Prince Kūpule, a character deeply entrenched in the high-stakes power struggles of pre-unification Hawai‘i. To embody the role both physically and emotionally, Finn underwent a remarkable transformation—gaining 15 to 20 pounds through rigorous strength training and a dedicated nutrition plan, along with immersive stunt and fight choreography training.
Set against the lush, dramatic landscapes of the Hawaiian Islands, Chief of War not only brings to life a defining era of Pacific history but also marks a full circle moment for Finn, who was born and raised in Hawai‘i.
