HONOLULU (HI Now) - Brandon Finn returns to his island roots in the upcoming Apple TV+ historical drama series Chief of War, premiering globally on Friday, August 1. The nine-episode epic, created by and starring Jason Momoa, explores the unification and colonization of Hawai‘i through an indigenous lens—offering a powerful retelling of the islands’ history from a Native perspective.

In the series, Finn takes on the pivotal role of Prince Kūpule, a character deeply entrenched in the high-stakes power struggles of pre-unification Hawai‘i. To embody the role both physically and emotionally, Finn underwent a remarkable transformation—gaining 15 to 20 pounds through rigorous strength training and a dedicated nutrition plan, along with immersive stunt and fight choreography training.

Set against the lush, dramatic landscapes of the Hawaiian Islands, Chief of War not only brings to life a defining era of Pacific history but also marks a full circle moment for Finn, who was born and raised in Hawai‘i. His connection to the land and culture adds authenticity and heart to the role, making his performance one to watch.

Don’t miss the global premiere of Chief of War on Apple TV+ this August 1.
