HONOLULU (HI Now) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has been building and protecting communities for over two centuries—including nearly 120 years here in Hawai‘i. In partnership with MACRO, Hi Now sat down with Lieutenant Colonel Adrian Biggerstaff, Commander of USACE’s Honolulu District, to explore their mission and impact. From flood mitigation and ecosystem restoration to military construction and disaster recovery in Lahaina, USACE blends military leadership with civilian expertise to serve Hawai‘i, the Pacific, and the nation. With a commitment to community collaboration and cultural respect, the Corps continues to solve today’s challenges while building a more resilient tomorrow.
