HONOLULU (HI Now) - OUTRIGGER Resorts & Hotels made a splash this June by wrapping up World Ocean Month with a vibrant, hands-on celebration at the Waikīkī Aquarium. Held on Saturday, June 28, the family-friendly event transformed the Aquarium’s lawn and foyer into a lively ocean-themed hub, welcoming both OUTRIGGER hosts and the community for a morning of learning, creativity, and conservation.
In partnership with the Genki Ala Wai Project, hundreds of OUTRIGGER team members rolled up their sleeves to make thousands of Genki Balls—mud spheres packed with microorganisms designed to help restore the Ala Wai Canal’s water health.
The event also featured interactive exhibits from more than 15 local conservation organizations, captivating live art demonstrations by Hawaiian artist Patrick Ching, and thought-provoking environmental displays by Jodi Endicott. Keiki enjoyed the HPD Keiki ID station, and guests were treated to free Kona Shaved Ice as a cool reward for participating.
This celebration reflected OUTRIGGER’s ongoing dedication to ocean conservation through the OUTRIGGER Zone — the brand’s global initiative launched in 2014 to support reef preservation, reduce marine debris, and raise environmental awareness.
