HONOLULU (HI Now) - Spring is in the air, and so is the magic of creativity! Honolulu Waldorf School is bringing back its beloved Waldorfaire, a celebration of imagination, hands-on learning, and community spirit. This year’s theme, “Imagination in Full Bloom,” perfectly captures the essence of Waldorf education—where creativity flourishes, curiosity thrives, and learning is an art form in itself.
Nestled beneath the towering monkeypod trees at the base of Niu Valley, Honolulu Waldorf School is a Pre-K to 8th-grade institution dedicated to a child-centered, holistic, and multi-sensory approach to learning. Here, students don’t just absorb information; they experience it—through art, music, movement, and storytelling. They even create their own textbooks, making learning a deeply personal and engaging journey.
To bring this philosophy to life for the entire community, Waldorfaire is offering a day packed with fun, creativity, and hands-on activities for the whole family. From pony rides and a petting zoo to a puppet show and live music, there’s something to delight every child (and child-at-heart). Young adventurers can take part in a treasure hunt, fishing game, and outdoor activities, while budding artists can craft their own swords, wands, and felted flower crowns. And let’s not forget the rummage, bake, and plant sales—perfect for finding hidden treasures and delicious treats!
The school’s very own Monkeypod Mākeke store will be open, showcasing beautifully crafted toys and handmade goods that reflect the heart and soul of Waldorf’s artistic philosophy. And, of course, no celebration is complete without great food and live music to set the perfect mood.
Mark your calendars! Waldorfaire is happening on Saturday, April 5th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Honolulu Waldorf School. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or brand new to the Waldorf experience, this is your chance to see firsthand how the school fosters a lifelong love of learning, innovation, and creativity.
