HONOLULU (HI Now) - Born and raised on the island of O’ahu, Rebecca James discovered her passion for music early on, singing in her church choir and teaching herself guitar at the age of 11. Her musical style, influenced by artists like Fleetwood Mac, Eva Cassidy, James Taylor, and Jack Johnson, blends acoustic melodies with jazzy tones reminiscent of Norah Jones.
Rebecca has been an active participant in the Henry Kapono Foundation’s On the Rise program for two years. During this time, she has showcased her talents at venues like The Velvet Monkey and had the honor of opening for the iconic Hawaiian Style Band. Additionally, she performed alongside Henry Kapono at the September 28, 2024, Songs of C&K Benefit for the Henry Kapono Foundation.
Her latest single, “Butterflies,” was released on February 21, 2025, and is available on all digital streaming platforms, along with her other song, “Better.” Fans can also find her music videos on YouTube.
