HONOLULU (HI Now) - Join Hilton Waikiki Beach on Wednesday, March 26th, for a special Prince Kūhiō Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly event in the hotel lobby invites both locals (kamaʻāina) and visitors (malahini) to experience a day filled with Hawaiian culture, entertainment, and ʻono food—all in the heart of Waikīkī. $5 validated valet parking will be available for event guests.
The celebration kicks off with a traditional Oli (chant), followed by live Hawaiian music, hula performances, and interactive Makahiki games, including Konane (Hawaiian Checkers), Ulumaika (Hawaiian Bowling), and Hana Hei (String Game). Guests can also participate in ʻOhe Kapala, an ancient Hawaiian stamping art, to create their own decorated luggage tags.
The event also honors the rich legacy of Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole, sharing stories about his life and impact on Hawaiʻi.
