HONOLULU (HI Now) - Slow Island Food & Beverage Co. is dedicated to preserving the rich flavors of Hawai’i by partnering with local farms to create high-quality, island-inspired products. Their first retail store, Slow Island Provisions, will highlight locally sourced ingredients and showcase products that support sustainability and self-sufficiency.
Founded by Chef Gida Snyder, Slow Island started with Culinary Syrups made from seasonal fruit and has since expanded to include savory and spicy offerings, as well as Mahi’ai Reserve, a limited-edition line featuring specialty ingredients from island farms.
The store will not only celebrate Slow Island’s own products but also uplift other small businesses that prioritize traceability, quality, and sustainability. Visitors can expect a range of beverage mixers, spice blends, and syrups, as well as creative mocktails and cocktails crafted with unique local flavors.
Additionally, Kind Koffee Company, located at Anchor Cove Shopping Center, features Slow Island Co.’s Hawai’i Vanilla and Sea Salted Macadamia Syrups in some of their top-selling coffee drinks. Owned by Taeru Andrade-Anderson and operated with the help of barista Tapa Andrade, Kind Koffee opened its second location in 2018 in Lawai and has recently expanded to Anchor Cove. The café proudly collaborates with other local producers like Outpost Coffee and Secret Harvest for specialty drinks.
The success of Slow Island and its partners is deeply tied to the health of Hawai’i’s farms, growing at a pace that aligns with local agriculture. Slow Island Provisions aims to be a gathering place for food lovers, supporting the community while offering a taste of Hawai’i’s best.
